December 1, 2016 – LifeNet Health asked the Court to add $17 million in pre- and post-judgment interest to its $35 million patent infringement damages award against LifeCell Corp. LifeNet argued that “[p]rejudgment interest is warranted to put LifeNet Health in the position in which it would have been had LifeCell paid the damages award to LifeNet Health at the beginning of LifeCell’s infringing activities” and asked for “additional post-judgment interest to be calculated through the date of payment by LifeCell.”
The patent-at-issue is U.S. Patent No. 6,569,200, which relates to soft tissue grafts. The case is captioned LifeNet Health v. LifeCell Corp., 13-cv-486, in the Eastern District of Virginia.
